Crackdown against sand mining mafia in Shopian 10 arrested : Police

Shopian : The Shopian police on Monday claimed to have arrested ten persons in connection with illegal sand mining in southern region of Kashmir.


Police official told Kashmir Despatch that a crackdown was launched against illegal sand miners along Rambi area in the Shopian district.


Officer said that “police party led by SDPO Zainapora Wajahat Hussain and SHO Zainapora under the supervision of SSP Shopian Sandeep Choudhary, Conducted many raids along Rambo Ara in which six tractors, two tippers one JCB and one loader were siezed and at least ten persons were arrested.


He said that FIR number 67/2019 under the relevant sections have been registered in Police Station Zainapora and further investigation has been initiated.
