Bandipore, Jan 06 : Storekeeper of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department Bandipore was suspended after a truck loaded with government rice was seized by police on Sunday.
According to wire service—Storekeeper government granary Bandipore, Ghulam Mohammad Malik was suspended and attached with T.S.O Sumbal till further orders.
The order was issued by Deputy Commissioner Bandipore, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza after a truck carrying 166 bags of government rice was seized by police near Nadihal area of Bandipore on Sunday.
After a specific tip of police had arrested two persons namely, Muzaffar Sayeed Wani son of Mohammad Sayeed Wani resident of Nadihal Bandipore and Bilal Ahmad Malik resident of Mader at around 5 am at Gundpora-Nadihal road. Police have also seized 166 bafs of FCI rice which was being shifted by the accused persons in a truck bearing registration number JK04-3206.
Police have registered a case FIR No. 01/2020 under section 409 read with section 109 IPC and further investigation has been taken up.
Police said that the truck was loaded with FCI labeled 166 government rice bags and was being ferried by the accused persons for the purpose of being sold in black. An official said that some empty bags with FCI label and some empty bags with Apple brand were also seized from the truck.
He said that the accused were shifting the FCI labeled bags to Apple branded bags in order to sell the government rice illegally in black market. Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Bandipore has order an inquiry to investigate the matter. Official sources said that the truck was ferried from government granary Bandipore and the concerned store keeper had sold these rice bags after receiving a cash of Rs 171000 from the accused.
After the matter came to fore DC Bandipore suspended the concerned storekeeper after the accused named him during preliminary investigation. DC Bandipore also constituted an inquiry team headed by ADC Bandipore Zahoor Ahmad Mir to investigate the matter.
“Whereas, as per the preliminary investigations, the accused persons have named one Ghulam Mohammad Malik, storekeeper, government granary, Bandipore. Therefore, in view of the above, it is hereby order that the said storekeeper is hereby placed under suspension and shall remain attached with T.S.O Sunbal till further orders, “reads the order issued by DC Bandipore.
The order further reads that a team of officers comprising Zahoor Ahmad Mir, ADC Bandipore and Mubashir Saleem Nazki HQA/Tehsildar Bandipore is hereby constituted for conduct of a detailed enquiry into the matter.
The committee shall submit it’s report within 3 days positively, read the order copy of which is available with news agency. Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipore, Zahoor Ahmad Mir said that they were investigating the matter and those who will be found guilty shall be dealt with sternly. He said that they will submit the report within two days to DC Bandipore after a detailed enquiry into the matter. (KNO)
