Majority of those who entered into Kashmir got killed, CFVs aimed to give cover to militants to infiltrate
Srinagar, Jan 25 : In a significant development, the top BSF officer on Saturday said that at least 130 militants managed to infiltrate into this side last year and majority of them were killed in various encounters.
According to wire service— talking to reporters on the sidelines of a Bharat Darshan Tour for Kashmiri students at Humhama here, Inspector General of BSF Kashmir frontier, Ajmal Singh said that they are sending students of various parts of Kashmir to visit different parts of country. “We are sending small batches of students to explore their country,” he said.
Asked how many militants had managed to enter into this side of Kashmir last year, the IG BSF said that figures gathered from various sources suggest that 130 militants managed their entry into this side. “But our figures suggest that majority of them got killed in various encounters last year and also in the first month of this year too,” the BSF officer said.
He said that the successful infiltration bids took place “under the cover of Pakistan army’s firing in violation of ceasefire agreement.” “Ceasefire agreement was breached by Pakistan many a times last year by resorting to heavy firing only to push as many as possible militants into this side,” the IG BSF said.
He said that at present all the infiltration passes are closed and infiltration is almost zero. “But our reports suggest that as and when snow melts and pass open, Pakistan will again push militants into this side by resorting to heavy ceasefire violations,” he said.
The IG BSF said that there are credible reports that militants are being trained at various camps in Pakistan and they are waiting for 2020 summer to infiltrate into this side (KNO)
