COVID-19 Lockdown: DC B’la Conducts Inspection of Several Locations, Reviews Lockdown Implementation

Bramulla, May 16: With an aim to implement strict lockdown in order to control the spread of COVID-19 infection, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo today conducts inspection of various locations of Baramulla town to review the implementation of lockdown and other related advisories issued with respect to COVID-19 pandemic.

On the occasion, DC took a detailed review of the situation where he checked the movement passes to know their authenticities. He also inspects some sales outlets wherein he stressed upon them to follow all the requisite advisories especially maintaining social distancing and use of face masks.

Speaking on the occasion, DC informed that, so far about 80 shops have been sealed, 77 vehicles have been seized among other strict initiatives that were taken in this regard. He also said that Registration Certificates (RCs) of about 75 vehicles have also been seized who were roaming unnecessarily and not following other guidelines. DC also said that 300 persons were arrested for violating Prohibitory orders and not using face masks besides 89 FIRs that have been registered against the lockdown violators. Moreover, DC said that 125 Magistrates have been deployed for ensuring strict implementation of lockdown and random checking is being done with regard to the movement of vehicles/persons.

Reiterating the administration’s commitment of uplifting the weak and unprivileged sections, DC said that a mechanism has been formulated wherein poor and needy people shall be assisted in view of the forthcoming festival of Eid. He also appealed various stakeholders of the society not to ignore such poor and destitute families in their jurisdictions and help them at this critical juncture.

Appealing people to cooperate with the administration in combating the spread of Coronavirus, DC urged people to follow all the related health advisories so that spread of the virus is controlled. He stressed to maintain social distancing at designated sales outlets and urged people to offer prayers in their homes during the holy month of Ramadhan.
