Gunfight rages in Shopian village

Srinagar, June 20 : A gunfight broke out in Shopian village of Southern region of Kashmir between militants and forces this evening.

Reports reaching said that a joint team of army, SOG, and CRPF launched cordon and search operation in Lakadpora village of Shopian after having credible input about presence of some militants in the area.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected house the hiding militants fired upon searching party triggering an encounter.

As per reports two militants are believed to be trapped.

A police officer also confirmed to Kashmir Despatch and said contact has been established with hiding militants and firing from both sides is on.

Till this report was filed intermittent firing was going on.
