Ashraf Mir appeals administration to address peoples’ sufferings
SRINAGAR, July 24: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) leader and former minister Mohammad Ashraf Mir on Friday expressed serious concern over lack of basic amenities including drinking water scarcity at various places in Sonwar constituency.
In a statement issued here, Mir said that the people of Shivpora and Athwajan are suffering immensely for want of safe drinking water and are compelled to fetch the water from different unreliable and unsafe sources in their vicinity.
Similarly, he said that the inhabitants of Syedpora and its adjoining areas have been left high and dry in absence of a bridge at Nalla Maloori Syedpora connecting dozens of areas in this locality.
“A detailed project report has already been submitted for administrative approval in this regard. But the concerned department has failed to pursue this matter exhibiting a lackadaisical approach towards difficulties faced by the people,” he added.
The JKAP leader also demanded immediate installation of an electricity transformer at Friends Colony at Shalimar where people are reeling under perpetual darkness. “I appeal to the power development department to address this grave issue in the area by installing an electricity transformer so that the people are not forced to come to streets,” he averred.
