Srinagar, 10 Aug: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) Monday condoled the demise of Dr Ashraf Mir of Pampore who died of Covid-19 and appealed the government to sponsor his child for MBBS and he would continue his legacy.
President DAK, Dr Suhail Naik while paying rich tributes to the martyred coronavirus warrior said the deceased doctor was the lone bread winner of his extended family which has left them devastated.
DAK said Dr Ashraf was well known among the social circles and used to provide free consultations to the patients of his area who have all praise for his humble nature and professionalism.
Dr Naik said since no money or financial benefits can compensate the loss of the deceased doctor who died of the complications of Covid-19 while serving his patients.
“But at least the government can sponsor his child for a MBBS course which will at least serve as a tribute for his martyrdom,” he said.
Meanwhile, DAK is receiving condolence messages from doctors all over the country and different parts of the world and rich tributes are also being paid to the deceased.
The doctors’ body urged the Lieutenant Governor of J&K Manoj Sinha to recommend the case for sponsorship of MBBS seat so that the legacy of their father continues.
The doctor’s body has also demanded for special reservation in medical colleges for kith and kin of all those coronavirus warriors who might succumb to COVID illness.
DAK appealed the government to provide an uninterrupted supply of standard Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits in every hospital and no one should be allowed to enter hospital premises without mask.
Dr Naik said that prolonged duty hours, unregulated patient flow, improper functioning of respiratory clinics, not-quarantining health staff is putting the health care workers at risk of catching the novel coronavirus.
“Allowing patients and attendants to enter hospital premises without wearing masks are responsible factors which have resulted in exposure of medical staff to the lethal virus and henceforth so many frontline health care workers fall sick,” he said.
DAK demanded that there should be an uninterrupted supply of standard PPE kits in every hospital and no one should be allowed to enter hospital premises without wearing a mask.
Naik said that prolonged duty hours of 24 hours without quarantine exposes health staff at risk of contracting virus with high viral load and subsequent complications.
