Grieved over death of Karnah civilians, demand cessation of hostilities: Raja Manzoor, Javed Mirchal

SRINAGAR, August 13: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) on Thursday expressed deep shock and grief overthe death of civilian from Kachadia Bagh Bella of Karnah sector of Kupwara district who was injured during cross border shelling last week and succumbed to his injuries at a Srinagar hospital this morning.

In a joint statement issued here, JKAP leaders JKAP leaders and former legislators Raja Manzoor and Javed Mirchal said that thousands of families who live in border areas are in a pitiable condition because of the continuous ceasefire violations. They called for cessation of hostilities along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.

We express our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of the two persons Mohammad Yaqoob Mir and Arif Ahmad Chichi of Shamspora who lost their lives in cross border shelling of last week at Kachadia Bagh Bella of Karnah sector and wish speedy recovery of those who sustained injuries during this incident,” the two JKAP leaders said.

They remarked the ceasefire violations, whatever the causes, risk the prosperity and security of both the countries that have far more commonalities than the areas of suspicion and discard. “The incidents of skirmishes and hostilities from across the border derail the efforts leading towards formation of better understanding and amity between the two neighbouring countries,” they added.

The JKAP leaders observed that the direct fallout of border skirmishes is on the people of Jammu and Kashmir especially living in frontier areas who fall prey to the bullets and mortars. “The situation demands an immediate end to such hostilities and the leadership of the country must take all steps required to bring peace on the borders,” they appealed.

The JKAP leaders observed that the continuous firing on LoC in J&K has forced the people to leave their homes for safer areas in view of the death and destruction caused by the routine clashes.  “It is unfortunate that there is no let up in cross border shelling which is causing more worries to the civilian population living in the border areas of Jammu and Kashmir.”
