Pattan,August 16 : The rice meant to be distributed to the poor and weaker sections of Pattan area has been illegally Stored in the premises of a house and was meant for black marketing has been seized.

An official told Kashmir Despatch that Pattan Police had received a information that a man identified as Mehraj Ahmad Dar S/o Ab Salaam Dar a resident of Kripalgarh Pattan
has illegally Stored Govt Supplied Rice in the premises of his house which after repacking is selling in open Market.

A police officer told Kashmir Despatch that following information a police party raids to his house and recovered 144 bags of Govt Supplied Rice out of which 104 Rice bags were converted/ re packed in to apple brand white bags and 40 Rice bags were still in Jute bags, he added.

The official said that 144 of rice bags has been seized from the spot and the accused has been arrested and a case under FIR No 218/ 2020 stands registered in police station Pattan and further investigation set into motion.
