JeM militant killed in Shopian, operation over

Shopian, Aug 19: A Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant was killed in an encounter between security forces and militants in Molu Chitragam area of Shopian district on Wednesday.


An official told Kashmir Despatch that the gunfight broke out hours after the search operation which was launched by a joint team of Army’s 44 RR, SOG, and CRPF in Moolu village of Shopian.
He said that in the exchange of fire one militant was killed.


A police officer told Kashmir Despatch that as soon as a joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter.


The officer said in the gunfight one militant was killed who has been identified as Talib Ahmad Mir of Mohipora Kulgam who was affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammad militant outfit.
