Cautions administration against discrimination with OBC & SC localities in Jammu
JAMMU, Sept 20: Apni Party Provincial President and Former Minister Manjit Singh today demanded reservation for Other Backward Class (OBC) community in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement to the press, the Apni Party leaders organised a public meeting at Domana area in which over a dozen people joined the Party under the supervision of Bodh Raj Bhagat.
Bhagat has arranged the meeting of Scheduled Caste and OBC communities in Domana in which many issues regarding upliftment of the community were discussed. Ex-MLA Fakir Chand, Madan Lal Chalotra, Jagdish Raj Pandey, Mohinder Bhagat, Sardeesh Rana, Yasir Choudhary, Nagesh Kumar among others attended the meeting.
Manjit Singh who presided over the meeting said that the Scheduled Caste and Other Backward Class communities have faced discrimination and negligence since decades and political parties have exploited them.
“Their localities are under development without proper lanes, drains and water supplies. With false and misleading sloganeering, these poor people were deprived of their rights,” said Manjit Singh.
The Apni Party Provincial President said that the Party will fight for their genuine rights unlike others who used them for political gains. Manjit Singh appreciated the OBC and SC communities for their contribution in the society. “The Government should give 27 % reservation to the OBC people,” he demanded, adding that it was promised that the OBC community would get all the rights like other states and Union Territories of the Country. However, they are still waiting for the fulfillment of the promises.
He assured that the Apni Party will fight for the rights of the downtrodden section of the society.
Meanwhile, Apni Party leader Bodh Raj Bhagat highlighted various local issues faced by the SC and OBC communities and alleged that their areas being ignored in respect of developmental activities.
He appealed to the Government to ensure development in all the areas equally without discrimination.
