Bandipora, Oct 03 : Authorities in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district have miserably failed to construct a footbridge in Lankreshipora village, which connect more than 80 households with another village.
The residents said that the authorities have failed to construct a footbridge over the years, thereby making them suffer a lot.
They said that as the authorities failed to construct a concrete footbridge over a fast-flowing stream, they had themselves constructed a makeshift wooden footbridge, however, it recently collapsed, thereby making them suffer a lot.
The locals said that the bridge connects Lankreshipora village with Kunzpora village, which is located on the other side of the stream.
“We had built a wooden bridge ourselves which was connecting the two villages but it recently collapsed and since then it has not been repaired. The concerned authorities have also failed to reconstruct this wooden structure,” said Noor Mohammad, a local.
He said that they have brought the issue into the notice of the concerned authorities several times but they have failed to redress this issue.
The locals said that even the graveyard of the village is located on the other side of the stream and God forbade if anyone dies, they have no other option but to take the body in a boat to cross the fast-flowing stream.
Meanwhile, they appealed to the deputy commissioner to look into the matter personally and help resolve their grievances.
Repeated attempts to reach the concerned officials over the issue did not materialize, as no one was available for comments— (KNO)
