Watargam Volleyball Cup: Keeping Youth Away from Drugs

Baramulla, Oct 05 : Sports develop a sense of friendliness among the youth and develop their team spirit. It helps them to develop mental and physical toughness and avoids being tired and lethargic. Sports have proven impact on both children and adults, providing opportunities to get exercise and spend time with peers in a healthy environment.
Army has always been promoting sporting culture among the youth of Kashmir. With a view to enhance bonhomie with Army and promote sporting culture among youth, Watargam Army Camp of 29 Rashtriya Rifles is conducting a Volleyball Tournament for AWAAM in Kreeri Tehsil of Baramulla District in North Kashmir. Constructively engaged youth is also likely to stay away from ‘Drugs’ which has made its presence felt among youth in recent times.
A total of 20 teams are participating in the tournament. Tournament was inaugurated by Mr Ghulam Muhiuddin Sofi BDC Chairman Wogura in presence of Mr Abdul Rasid Ganai BDO Wogura, Mr Tariq Mehmood DSP(Ops) Kreeri and Ather Ali SHO PS Kreeri. Civil Administration appreciated the efforts of the Army in promoting sports culture among youth and keeping them away from drug menace.
Inaugural match of the Watargam Volleyball Cup was played between Kreeri-A and Sharkawara Villages. Heavily contested match was won by Sharkawara after three sets. Villagers also witnessed and enjoyed the match while supporting their teams with a cup of tea and snacks.
