Despite facing several challenges, Kulgam teen qualifies NEET with flying colours

Srinagar, Oct 17 : Like many Kashmiris, two Sikh teenagers from Central Kashmir’s Budgam district have made entire Kashmir proud by managing to secure over 90 per cent points in the recently held National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) examinations.
Pertinently, the results for NEET were declared on Friday in which a total of 771500 candidates have qualified and Soyeb Aftab of Odisha and Akanksha Singh of New Delhi topped the exam with a perfect score of 720 out of 720.
Sharanjeet Singh, son of Popinder Singh of Khampore Saria Chadoora and Jai Veer Singh of Rangreth area of Budgam have qualified NEET by securing over 90 per cent points.
Jai veer Singh said that he was studying in Kota and managed to secure over 93 per cent points in NEET in his first attempt.
“I am thankful to everyone who supported me,” he said, adding that in CBSE board examinations, he had secured 97 per cent marks in Class 12th.
“I started preparing for NEET from 2018 and studied basic NCERT books,” he said, adding that he faced tremendous hardships while preparing for the NEET from last one year due to the slow speed mobile internet services here.
Similarly, Sharanjeet told that he is thankful to all those who helped and guided him in securing over 90 marks. “I just focused on 11th and 12th syllabus, which helped me to secure around 95 per cent points,” he said.
Both Jai veer and Sharanjeet said that focusing on your goal will help you to achieve it. “The only thing you need is to be consistent and honest to yourself and parents,” they said.
For those who are preparing for NEET examination, they said the aspirants should focus on NCERT books and manage their time well, which will help them in qualifying NEET easily.
Popinder Singh Gagan, father of Sharanjeet Singh, who is a teacher by profession said that he is feeling proud of his son who has secured 95 per cent points in NEET examinations.
He added that supporting children in their goals will help them to shine.
Meanwhile, Twin brothers, Gowhar Bashir and Shakir Bashir, hailing from Batpora village of Kunzar in have scored 651 and 657 points respectively out of the total 720 points.
Gowhar said this is the moment of joy and pride for them as they have qualified the much anticipated and covet entrance exams with excellence.
He said in 2019 they both had cracked JEE Mains exams and were enrolled in NIT Srinagar in B.Tech course. “This year it was our second attempt to go for the NEET exams and this time we made it with excellence. We took full advantage of the COVID-19 lockdown by dedicating our time toward our studies,” he said.
Bashir Ahmad, father of the twin brother told KNO that he is working as a private security guard at a fair price shop. “I was not able to help them much but I tried my best. Today I feel so proud that my sons have qualified the NEET exam.”
He said that his long-awaited dream has come true and they have not just him proud but the whole Kashmir as well.
Meanwhile,Bilal Ahmad Mantoo son of Abdul Rashid Mantoo, a resident of Y K Qazigund qualified the coveted NEET Exam by scoring 86 percentiles.
Bilal said that it was only possible due to support of his teachers, parents and friends that he managed to secure 86 per cent points in the NEET.
He said that as he belongs to a very poor family and he was not able to buy a smartphone, books and other study material. “But it was due to the support of his physics teacher at Simnania coaching centre Qazigund, few relatives and friends who provided him with everything and I was able to qualify the NEET.”
Bilal said that his father is a labourer and they do not have any other source of income but still his family supported him a lot. “It was also possible for me to qualify the NEET because of the support and help of my two uncles and a friend, who provided me with books and other study material.”
He said that even today, he does not have any smartphone but he was steadfast towards his goal and finally he achieved it.
He also said that he wants to be a heart surgeon and will always work for the welfare of society.
“Hard work and patience is the key to success and if you possess both of them you can achieve any goal. I request youth of Kashmir don’t get involved in drugs and other futile exercises but get united and contribute for the welfare of the society,” Bilal said.
