SRINAGAR, Nov 9: People from village Palpora of district Anantnag on Monday staged protest demonstrations against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department for failing to supply drinking water in the area.

Scores of women from Palpora assembled on road and held protests.

The protesters blocked the Kokernag road leading to a long and messy traffic jam on the road.

Demanding hassle free portable water supply in the area, the protesters urged the government to address their grievances.

Meanwhile, AEE PHE Kokernag Javaid Ahmad told Kashmir Despatch that due to prevailing dry spell, the water level in the area has decreased significantly. “However, we are looking into the matter and we will reslove this problem very soon,” he added.
