Aspirational District B’la Shines Again in NITI Aayog’s Delta Ranking, Enlisted in Top 10 Best Performing Districts

Baramulla, November 16: In a major breakthrough towards excelling its performance in different sectors spanning diverse development indicators, Baramulla district once again shines and brought laurels by securing 8th rank out of 112 Aspirational districts of the country in the NITI Aayog’s delta ranking. As per the official report released by the think tank, Baramulla achieves the position under Financial inclusion and Skill development indicators as envisaged in the ambitious ‘Aspirational Districts Programme’.

To mark this achievement, the district has got additional allocation of Rs 3 crore as an incentive from the centre so that the district moves further on the path of development and prosperity. Earlier in 2019, the district gets the same additional allocation for achieving the top slot in the same ranking.

Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo and his team has been highly applauded from higher authorities for this performance. In an official communication issued by NITI Aayog, the Chief Secretary of J&K UT has been asked to issue a Good Service Entry to the DC for the excellent performance of the district.

Expressing extreme satisfaction over the ranking, the DC has extended felicitations to the team of officers who worked day in and day out with utmost dedication and enthusiasm. He added that this was a tremendous achievement for the district besides emphasizing upon the officers to work with added synergy and commitment so that the district performs better in the succeeding delta rankings.

It is worth here to mention that Aspirational Districts programme was launched in January 2018 which aims to quickly and effectively transform some of most underdeveloped districts of the country. It envisages rapid development of selected districts on basis of composite index based on five parameters viz health and nutrition, education, financial inclusion, skill development, agriculture and water resources and basic infrastructure.
