E- Way bills verified, Penalty imposed
16 December: State Taxes Officer Enforcement Wing (North) Kashmir, Aijaz Hussain Malik (KAS) under the instructions of DC Enforcement North Kashmir, today intercepted various vehicles carrying goods on NH1 near Hygam, Baramulla for physical verification, scrutiny of tax invoices and electronic way (e-way) bills.
The dealers, whose vehicles carrying goods without proper documents were detained and imposed a penalty after scrutiny of tax invoices.
Meanwhile, STO appealed the traders, wholesale dealers, owners of brick kilns, stone crushers and business fraternity to ensure generation of proper tax invoices and apply for registration of GSTIN number, if their turnover is exceeding 40 lakhs per annum i.e., the threshold for registration under GST.
The STO reiterated that the Department would also intensify the checking against the goods Carriers carrying goods towards Baramulla and Kupwara without proper tax invoices, E-way bills and penalize the vehicles under Section 129 of CGST Act for evading tax so as to ensure that the GST complaint traders are not affected by such violation and malpractices. For the information of all concerned, Section 129 of Central GST Act 2017 provides for the basis relating to detention of goods or conveyances or both in case of certain defaults under this law.
It is pertinent to mention here that around 200 E- Way bills were also verified during the inspection.
The inspection team included Sub-Inspectors Mohammad Iqbal, Mehraj Ahmad and other officials of the department.
