SRINAGAR, DEC 28: Unlike other newly elected DDC members, Waheed-ur-Rehman Para, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader who won the DDC elections and is currently in the custody of the NIA, that prevented him in attending the Oath ceremony on Monday in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
As per Kashmir Despatch, barring Waheed Para, District Development Commissioner Pulwama Dr. Raghav Langer administered oath to the 13 elected DDC members. Apart from ADC Pulwama, ADC Tral, SSP Pulwama, officers of various departments were also present on the occasion.
After the swearing in ceremony, the District Development Commissioner congratulated the DDC members. He advised the members to work in the respective areas keeping in view the responsibility and public welfare.
Pertinently, the elections were held for 14 DDC seats in Pulwama district in which Waheed-ur-Rehman Para of PDP also won one seat. However, the NIA has arrested him in connection with the Devender Singh case, as a result of which he could neither participate in the election campaign nor attend the swearing-in ceremony.
