Ganderbal: The residents of Ganderbal on Friday staged a protest over shifting of health staff from Mini Maternity Care (MMC) Hospital Wayil to District Hospital (DH) Ganderbal.
As per the locals, amid Covid-19 pandemic, the DH Ganderbal was working as Covid dedicated hospital, whereas doctors were at work at Mini Maternity Hospital Wayil since then.
However, with the government deciding to declare DH Ganderbal as a non-Covid-19 hospital, the authorities are now working with shifting doctors back to DH Ganderbal which is not going well with the local residents.
The locals have now urged authorities to shop shifting doctors from MMC Wayil to DH Ganderbal or put arrangements of doctors at MMC Wayil.
Suhail Ahmed a locale said, “The DH Ganderbal was designated as Covid-19 hospital while all treatments were done at MMC Wayil, and however now the authorities have decided to shift the doctors back to DH Ganderbal which is a matter of concern as in harsh winters it will be difficult to move to DH Ganderbal”.
He added, “We are now urging authorities to either post doctors at MMC Wayil for round the clock the services or stop shifting health workers from MMC Wayil back to DH Ganderbal”.
Talking to Kashmir Despatch, Chief Medical Officer Ganderbal Dr Mehraj Ud Din Sofi said, “We will keep the health staff which was already placed at MMC Wayil for treatment, while maternity care will be taken care of as well”.
