Baramulla, Feb 13: Safeena Beigh wife of former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Beigh bagged the chairperson of the district development council (DDC) in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The election for DDC chairperson was adjourned in Baramulla on February 08 due to lack of quorum.
Sources privy to Kashmir Despatch said that Safeena Beigh get support of three Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference, and two Apni Party councillors for the chairperson post, besides one independent candidate also joined hands.
As per details available with Kashmir Despatch Safeena Beigh became the first DDC chairperson of district Baramulla after bagging 10 votes out of 14.
Pertinent to mention here that DDC member Sonawallah Parray a People’s. Confrence leader on Saturday got elected as the Vice chiraperson for district Baramulla an official in the DC office Baramulla announced.
Parray and Irfan Hafiz Lone an independent DDC member were in the fray for the post of VC for DDC Baramulla. Both the candendors got seven votes each.
The tie between the two prompted the election authorities to go for draw of lots in which Parray got elected as VC.
