Kupwara, Mar 04 : Army in north Kashmir’s Kupwara in collaboration with the forest department carried out a “Green Lolab Campaign” drive to raise awareness about and contribute towards nature conservation.
In a statement issued to Kashmir Despatch army said, In continuation with its efforts to work for the betterment of society in Lolab, AWWAL ATTHAIS organised Green Lolab Campaign at AGS, Chandigam on 04 Mar 2021 in collaboration with the forest officials of Lolab. The event constituted a number of programs aimed at giving a message of Conservation of our ecological systems to the society.
The students of AGS, Chandigam won the hearts of all those present by displaying their immense talent in various competitions such as Drawing Competition, Placard Making Competition and Rock Painting Competition the message provided by these small kids to the society was highly appreciated by all. The next program was the tree plantation in which 30 saplings provided by the forest officials were planted by the dignitaries and kids present highlighting the importance of trees in our environment.
The next event was kite flying which was first of its kind in the valley and all those present participated with full zeal and enthusiasm. The kids and elders alike enjoyed this event and had fun.
The event was attended by many dignitaries from Civil and military to include Brig Neeraj Sharma, Col R K Mahajan, CO, 28 RR, Mr. Nasir Lone, DDC, Sogam, Mr. Haider Ali, Range Forest Officer, Sogam Mr Aizaz Ahmad, DSP, Sogam Asst Comdt 162 Bn CRPF.
The event culminated with the winners of various competitions being awarded by the dignitaries and the students posing for the photographs inspired by the Chipko movement giving out the msg against deforestation.
After the event locals praised the army for the conduct of event and the dignitaries present highlighted the importance of tree plantation to the kids.
The locals hoped for more such events to be conducted by the Army the statement further reads.
