GANDERBAL:A sensitization campaign on inclusive education was conducted by She Hope Society for Women Entrepreneurs (SHSFWE) with the support of Jan Vikas Samiti under the theme “We ring the Bell” from 15th to 25th March.
The campaign was run in different schools with the active participation of children and teachers of the respective schools.
The intent behind the campaign was to raise awareness among children, parents, various stakeholders, and decision-makers about the need to draw children to schools irrespective of their ability or disability, caste, creed, religion, and color. It was also about creating an enabling environment in schools for children with special needs.
The programs were mostly conducted in schools so that children, teachers, and community leaders are sensitized about the need for inclusive education and why it is incumbent upon all of us to motivate children to attend schools especially children with special needs.
There was also an emphasis in the campaign on creating requisite infrastructure in the schools for children with special needs so that these children do not either drop out or do not attend schools at all due to lack of facilities.
Similarly, school children were sensitized about the importance of creating a supportive environment for children with special needs so that they get equal opportunities to grow and have a productive life.
The school children enthusiastically participated in the campaign and very effectively transmitted the message through various activities about the need of inclusive education among fellow students and various stakeholders.
A signature campaign was also conducted wherein children, teachers, and various stakeholders extended their support to the program and vowed to inculcate awareness among other children about inclusive education.
