Police in north Kashmir’s Sopore on Saturday claimed to have solved a grenade throwing case and arrested two militant associates in this regard.
In a statement police said, On 12-12-2020 at 18:05 hours unknown militants threw a hand grenade towards police post bus stand which missed the intended target and exploded outside gate of the Police Post, resulting into the injuries of 03 civilians.
Regarding the incident Case FIR No.349/2020 was registered in Police Station Sopore and investigation set into the motion.
During the course of investigation 02 suspects namely Mohd Asif Najar S/o Mushtaq Ahmad Najar R/o Noor Bagh Sopore and Sahil Rashid Bhat S/o Ab Rashid Bhat R/o Green Town Sopore were apprehended and during questioning they confessed that they are working for LeT outfit as overground workers and had thrown the Grenade on Police Post Bus Stand on the directions of LeT militants.
The duo also confessed that they were desirous to join the terrorist ranks but before that a Hand Grenade was handed over to them with the directions to throw it on any security forces/ Police establishments in Sopore area, which they lastly threw on Police Post Bus Stand.
Both have been formally arrested on 01-04-2021 in the Case and are presently on Police remand. Further investigation is going on the statement further read
