Sopore, April 19 : The Soporw police on Sunday launched a special drive against illegal profiteering and raided various markets in the town.
As official told Kashmir Despatch that several shopkeepers were arrested and action taken against them as per the law.
The officail said three poultry shopkeepers were arrested by SHO Sopore for violating prescribed Government rates.
The shopkeepers were found selling 160 rupees/kg while as government rate is to sell 125 rupees/kg and were identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Lara S/O Ghulam Muhammad Lara R/O New Colony Sopore.
Wasim Ahmad Ghazi S/O Ghulam Rasool Ghazi R/O Khushal Matto Sopore and Manzoor Ahmad Khan S/O Muhammad Ashraf Khan R/O Shalpora Sopore.
Accordingly case FIR No.’s 89, 90, 91 U/S 3/8 Essential Commodities Act were registered in Police Station Sopore and investigation has been taken up.
The drive shall be continue in future.
The general public is requested to come forward and lodge complaint against illegal profiteers he added.
