Baramulla, April 19 : While the authorities in Jammu and Kashmir including the Health Department, has geared up for tackling the situation arising from spreading of Covid-19, the Baramulla police in north Kashmir have also been on their toes in spreading awareness among the public.
A police spokeperson told Kashmir Despatch that men and machinery of Baramulla Police has been geared up throughout the jurisdiction to take up measures to control the spread of COVID in the district.
He said measures including the support to civil administration in containment zones and testing, awareness, meeting with ulema and imams of mosques etc for SOPs and considering multiple sittings of namaz wherever possible to thin out gathering, distribution of masks at various public places, cooperation sought by various market and transport associations etc have been taken up.
The spokeperson said that people without masks are being provided with masks by the police and are being warned for stringent action to be taken against them if found without masks.
Besides this, on complaints of lack of checking of transport, public transport is being checked rigorously. People’s movement has being restricted in the containment zones.
People are requested to take COVID seriously and follow the SOPs so that its spread can be prevented.
Baramulla Police requests that all measures as undertaken and briefed, may be extended support and cooperation.
