Amid an alarming rise in Covid-19 cases, the Jammu and Kashmir UT government has imposed lockdown-like strict restrictions up to Monday morning with effect from last night. The covid lockdown came into effect from 8 pm yesterday till 6 am on Monday.
In order to enforce strict covid lockdown, Sopore police since yesterday evening are on roads after government announced covid curfew in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sleuths of police forces were seen on all inner and link roads while appealing people to remain indoors for the safety of mankind.
Following the appeal, common public cooperated and remained indoors as markets remain shut and no public transport was seen on the roads.
A police officer told Kashmir Despatch that people supported police and stayed indoors. He said this is how we can together tackle this deadly virus.
“The situation needs a collective understanding and responsibility. Both the public and administration needs to work out a plan to stop the spread the Coronavirus in the UT. Today people supported the administration in imposing the strict covid curfew,” he added.
Meanwhile the police teams were continuously seen helping the needy and those in need of medical assistance.
