Pant has been in phenomenal form for the Indian Cricket Team over last 7-8 months, especially in the longer form of cricket and played a pivotal role in teams historic triumph Down Under. Pant was also among the top performers for the team in the home series against England.
ICC on Wednesday released the test rankings and Pant’s performances were truly rewarded with career best No.6 ranking with 747 points.
It is the first time in Indian cricket’s history that a wicket-keeper batsman has broken into the top 10 of ICC Test rankings for batters. Even the legendary MS Dhoni wasn’t able to do so. In the longest format, the Jharkhand-born wicket-keeper batsman had managed a career-high of ICC World No.19.
Pant will be next seen in action in the ICC Test. Championship final between India and New Zealand, to be held in Southampton in June.
