Srinagar, Jun 30 : With decline in the Covid-19 positive cases in the valley, the Tourism Department of Kashmir is focusing on adventure tourism to experience explored and unexplored adventure tourism destinations, as the Kashmir valley possess a great potential for it.
Commissioner secretary tourism, Sarmad Hafeez while speaking to the news agency— Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that as the Covid cases are on decline in the valley along, the top priority of the department was to vaccinate the tourism stakeholders, which could drive a confidence among the travellers.
He said that the department also held a Capacity Building Measure training program to calibrate the tourism stakeholders on the adherence of Covid Sops and guidelines.
“After the initiative drove a good response the department is also focusing on adventure tourism in the valley. The department jointly with the Tour operators, Adventure Guides and other stakeholders is executing an extension promotional campaign to build an itinerary for the people from all over the country to experience both explored and unexplored adventure tourism destinations, as the valley possess a great potential for it,” he said.
Pertinently, on Wednesday, director Tourism GN Itoo kick started river rafting at Wusan area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
Dr Itoo told KNO that the department has taken several initiatives to revitalize the tourism sector in the valley, and that starting river rafting in the river Sindh is part of that initiative.
He said that it is an important activity of adventure tourism in the valley, and that the department is exploring more such spots for adventure tourism in the valley.
“The event has started for the first time after Covid-19 pandemic hit the valley, and it is an effort to revive adventure tourism here,” Itoo said—(KNO)
