Woman dies in Handwara

SRINAGAR, Aug 27: A 45-year-old woman was electrocuted to death in Qalamabad area in Handwara of north-Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday evening, family of the victim said.

Identifying the deceased as Hajira Begum wife of Ghulam Hassan Najar, they said that she was busy with some household chores and during the course of time received a high voltage jolt on coming in contact with bare wire of electric cooking heater.

 “We took her to District Hospital Handwara, however the doctors on duty declared her dead on arrival”, the family said.

Meanwhile a police official confirming the incident said that cognizance into the death of the woman is being taken. (GNS)
