Srinagar, Apr 29 : In a boost to Peoples Conference, vice-chairman of district development council Kupwara, Haji Farooq Ahmad Mir is joining the party on Sunday.
Sources told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Mir, who hails from Lolab area of Kupwara district, is likely to join PC today in presence of its chairman Sajad Gani Lone and other leaders.
Mir is currently the vice—chairman District Development Kupwara (DDC). He contested the recently held DDC election as an independent candidate, from Wavoora segment of the Lolab constituency. He polled more than 10,000 votes, the highest in Kashmir valley and won by a margin of more than 5000 votes, the second highest margin victory in the Kashmir valley.
His joining is likely to strengthen the party in Lolab Assembly constituency and put the party in a dominant position in Kupwara where it had won two assembly segments in last assembly election—(KNO)
