SOPORE: The residents of Neharpora in Sopore on Friday staged a peaceful protest against the administrations planning of installing electric meters in the area.
Reports told Kashmir Despatch that people from Neharpora area assembled at Iqbal Market Sopore along with the Councilor Irfan Ali, wherein they raised against the installation of electric meters.
The protest was held after the Addittional Deputy Commissioner Sopore had said that the electric meters will be installed in the Neharpora area.
On the resident who was staging the protest said, “All of us, who are here, belong to poor families. How can we afford huge amount bills every month, so that is the reason, why we have come here and staged a protest”.
Councilor Irfan Ali assured the protesters of all possible support. He told Kashmir Despatch that the issue raised by the locals will be fought legally.
Meanwhile, ADC Sopore Parvaiz Sajad Ganai visited the spot and informed the protestors that every step will be taken in their favour only. He further assured them for all possible support.
