Bandipora, 05 Jan, : The District hospital of North Kashmir’s Bandipora District is without an ENT, causing  huge inconvenience to patients.

As per reports, The District Hospital in Bandipora is without Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) specialist due to which patients are suffering on daily basis.

While talking to Kashmir Convener, People alleged  that the hospital has been left devoid of the ENT specialist forcing them to visit either the Sopore sub district hospital or the hospitals in Srinagar.

One of the local said that my daughter was in urgent need of ENT due to nose bleeding but due to unavailability of ENT here, I had to rush to sub district hospital sopore for her treatment.

This is strange that district hospital is without a ENT specialist while as sub district hospital has this facility, he added.

The locals complained that “ it becomes a commute of more than 40 kilometers for us to avail the services of an ENT specialist.”

They said that they have been moving from pillar to post to get the attention of the authorities but to no avail. “Every day hundreds of people suffer because of the non-availability of a doctor here at the District hopsital. The authorities remain unmoved and no steps whatsoever have been taken so far,” locals said.

The hospital caters to patients from not only Bandipora town but also from dozens of adjacent villages. These people remain completely dependent on the facility for their health care needs.

But the worst affected are the  people visiting the hospital from places other than the Bandipora town. Some of the locals said that the local people of town are aware of the absence of ENT in the hospital but the people visiting the hospital from other villages take the long commute to the hospital, only to find that there is no doctor available here.

The concerned Medical Superintendent (MS), Dr Sheikh Mushtaq, acknowledged that there is no ENT specialist present at the facility as of now. Besides he said that the matter has been conveyed to the higher authorities.

Meanwhile, the Locals have appealed to the Lieutenant Governor to address the problems at DH Bandipora.
