HSSs to have smart classes; 3500 schools to get tap water by July 2022

SRINAGAR, Feb 16: Jammu and Kashmir (UT) Principal Secretary School Education B.K Singh on Wednesday asserted that teachers should not panic because of the recent termination orders of some officials in the school education department.
In an exclusive interview with Kashmir Despatch, Mr. Singh dwelled on various issues confronting the students, teachers and the school education department. He lauded the hard work and excellent performance of the students in the recent examinations despite hurdles created by the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns.
“I would like to salute our students who succeeded with flying colours even though the schools were closed. It is their hard work. Besides, it is the efforts of teachers as well whom I have seen motivated in imparting education through community classes or online mode and I believe that the result percentage will gradually go up,” he said.
The Principal Secretary also revealed that many programs mulled by the government of India will be implemented to augment the infrastructure in government run schools across J&K this year. “We have identified some 3500 schools under the Jal Jeewan Mission where the department shall make tap water available for drinking purposes and in all the washrooms of these institutions by the end of 31st July this year,” he added.
Stressing on fostering infrastructure, inquisitiveness, creativity and scientific learning among the students under National Education Policy 2020, Mr. Singh said that government efforts are on to ensure that all the schools in J&K to have Atal Tinkering Labs by March 2023. “This is a digital leap our schools will witness and the students will benefit immensely because of the digital domain available educational institutions,” he said, adding that govt. is trying to establish smart classes in all higher secondary schools with at least 40 to 80 computers as per the enrollments of the schools.
He said that government is mulling to introduce one course in collaboration with DOEACC from class 6 to 12th standard wherein the students will get diploma in computers besides acquiring their normal schooling.
Mr. Singh the government will very soon start Super 100 coaching wherein the meritorious students who desire to appear in the competitive examinations.
On a question, about the recent termination orders served by the school education department to many teachers, Mr Singh said that the department will never act in a way that can de-motivate the teachers community. “The dismissal orders have been issued in cases where there are serious charges against the incumbents. Or these are the cases of chronic absenteeism where the teachers have been served repeated notices to explain their position but they have even failed to reply to the court notices. The teachers should not fear any such order and instead continue their work with full motivation and that work will be always appreciated by the department,” he added.
