Chess Championship concludes in Sopore

Sopore : The 18th district Baramulla Chess Championship held at Shah-e-Hamdan Sports Academy, Sopore on Thursday concluded successfully.
As reported by this newspaper a good number of youth from all categories participated with great enthusiasm in the two-day long Chess Championship.
The winners were awarded prizes and certificates.
On the occasion, SDPO Sopore Furqan Qadri, MC President Baramulla Touseef Raina, MC President Sopore Masrat Rasool Kar besides other civil officials were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion MC President Sopore Masrat Rasool Kar said it was great to see that good number of youth participated in this chess championship, she said that she wishes that younger generation should not shy away in opting to pursue sports as a career.
MC President said that there is a need to encourage the sporting activities in northern Kashmir as sports helps children get fit, develop skills.
Masrat said she will organise more such championships in her capacity and provide a platform to the youth of Sopore.
The organizers of the event on the closing ceremony said that the championship was organized to get the attention of the youngster towards and game and make more and more youngsters take part in such events.
