Sopore, Mar 24 : Scores of people including students on Thursday staged protest against the government for failing to macadamise the Amberpura-Tarzoo road reported news agency KNS.
Reports reaching said that residents blocked the Tarzoo-Hygam road and staged a protest demonstration against the department for failing to fulfill their genuine demand.
They said that authorities never pay any interest into their requests and the road is in dilapidated conditions as the stretch has not been repaired since long.
“We took to the streets a number of times to press for our demands but all in vain as the concerned department failed to take any steps in this regard,” the locals said, adding that they also approached the concerned authorities several times in the past but no steps were taken to redress their demands.
When contacted, the concerned AEE told KNS that there has been hinderance in starting repair works on the road as few transmission lines laid along the road have not been shifted by the concerned department despite repeated reminders.
He said that they have written to them many a time but to no avail. “Once transmission lines are be relocated we will start work on the road,” he said. (KNS)
