Bandipora, 29 March: Massive fire has caused severe damage in Khayar forests in North Kashmir’s Bandipora District.
The fire broke out on Tuesday and spread to a wide area as the concerned authorities failed to control the fire in time.
“Fire erupted in compartment No 22 in Khayar Lawaypora area falling under Khuihama forest range of Bandipora and is spreading rapidly. “Hundreds of green Kail and Fir trees believed to be damaged due to the fire”, said an official. The locals said that the compartment under fire is very dense in Bandipora division.
Range Officer Bandipora, said that a team of officials and workers of the department are busy dousing fire. “We are trying our best to control the fire and have so far succeeded in stopping it from spreading to the adjoining areas.
