Sopore : The Construction Contractors Association Sopore (CCAS) on Tuesday staged demonstration outside R&B office Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district described the new law as an obnoxious piece of superimposed legislation, demanded its immediate roll back.
The protesting contractors accused the Government of harassing and exploiting the rural folk by imposing draconian laws on them.
As per Kashmir Despatch Correspondent, the protesting contractors said that it was a bizarre proposition to make permission from Revenue and Rural Deptt mandatory before construction of houses by people on their own land and with their own money.
“We are protesting against the implementation of Government order No. 122 of 1992 being implemented after three decades, and also registration cards to be renewed online only in R&B department”.
They concerned about unacceptable laws including the procedure for renewal of contractors registration card, ban on movement of raw material, work done claims and areas of contractors since 2014 are still out standing.
The protesting contractors while threating Government to go for bigger protests if their demands ll not be accepted at earliest.
