Panel Discussion on ‘Executive Women- The Myth of Having It All’ held in North Campus KU, B’la

Baramulla, June 17: Women’s Development Cell North Campus, University of Kashmir, organized today a day a panel discussion on the theme ‘Executive Women- The Myth of having it All’ in Sir Syed Ahmad Khan Auditorium of the Campus, here.

Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar, General Manager J&K Bank, Mrs Rajni Saraf, Former Dean and Head, Faculty of Education, Jamia Milia Islamia, Farida Abdulla and Prof. and Chairperson Advanced Centre for Human Genetics, SKIMS, Dr. Dilafroze participated as the panelists.

The main aim of the programme was to bring powerful women voices together on one platform to debate and deliberate upon the issues women face while trying to balance between work and their personal lives.

The panel discussion was attended by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Peerzada Mumtaz Ahmad, faculty members, non-teaching staff, scholars as well as students.

The welcome address was given by the Director, North Campus, University of Kashmir – Prof. Pervez Ahmed. While welcoming the dignitaries, he emphasized the need to have gender-based policy actions to tackle discrimination against women.

Gender equality, economic empowerment and work-life balance were some of the issues that were put on the table during the panel discussion.

In her remarks, Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar stressed on the importance of building alliances to support women in different fields across organization and emphasized that female leaders have a huge responsibility to inspire the new generation of women in different sectors.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla reiterated that the women has abilities that she can compete with every challenge in life. She emphasised that women need to be confident in empowering themselves as they are the ones who shape the society.

During contemporary times, women are working shoulder to shoulder with men in every sphere of life and are also managing their household, which in itself is an achievement, said DC Baramulla.

The other speakers including Mrs Rajni Saraf, Farida Abdulla and Dr. Dilafroze spoke on the occasion and highlighted the role of women in the lives of people and their contribution toward society. In their remarks, they Reiterated that gender equality always has to be a priority, which should be strongly promoted across institutions.

They emphasized that to achieve work-life balances at workplaces, sharing of responsibilities, parenting duties and household chores was the secret to achieve success in life.
