Joint Secretary Ministry of Textile visits Dehairing Plant at Leh

Leh, June 24: Joint Secretary, Ministry of Textile, GoI, Prajakta L Verma, who is on an official tour, visited the Dehairing Plant at Leh. She was accompanied by Executive Councillor, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Tashi Namgyal; Councillor Nyoma; Councillor Kungyam; Councillor Korzok and Councillor Chushul.

Director, Animal Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Department, Ladakh; District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Leh; Chairman and Secretary, All Changthang Pashmina Growers Marketing Cooperative Society, Leh; its members and other concerned officials were also present.

Joint Secretary, Prajakta Verma inspected the scouring machines and other equipment at the Dehairing Plant procured under funds provided by Ministry of Textile, GoI. She assured to take forward the issues apprised regarding the pashmina growers and its promotion.  

Chairman and Secretary, All Changthang Pashmina Growers Marketing Cooperative Society apprised about the issues faced by the Changthang Pashmina Cooperative, the need for policy intervention to promote the finest quality of Pashmina from Ladakh, to provide specific entrepreneurship development programme for the youths of Changthang.

Later, the Joint Secretary met the President of the Ladakh Chambers of Commerce, Tashi Gyaltson and discussed issues pertaining to textile related SSI units in Ladakh.
