The 30-day parole of Dera Sachcha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim ended on July 17. During this parole, he spent time with his family, his adopted daughter, Honey Preet, and took question-answer sessions with his followers.
During one such live session on Instagram, he told his followers that his blood group has been changed from O+ to O-. However, he offered no evidence, medical or otherwise, of his bizarre claims.
Medically, the blood group of a person never changes throughout their life, besides really exceptional cases like when they get a bone-marrow transfer or get a rare form of cancer. Also, none of these changes is permanent.
He invoked the second spiritual leader of Dera Sachcha Sauda, Shah Satnam Singh and said that when he died, Ram Rahim asked him to not leave him, to which he reportedly replied that he always resided inside him. After this, his blood group changed to O-ve as per his claims.
He also claimed that the blood group on his driving license was recorded as O+ve.
He also made some other claims in his Instagram Live session, saying that he had learnt to drive and repair a tractor when he was merely 8 years old.
During his parole, Ram Rahim stayed in his Baghpat Ashram. His family was also there with him but he made no public appearances with them. However, he did make a public appearance after half a decade with Honey Preet.
Since 2017, he is serving a life sentence for the sexual assault of his pupils and the murder cases of journalists Chhatrapati and Ranjit. Ram Rahim got a furlough of 21 days on 7 February just before the Punjab elections this year. After this, he got parole on 17 June 2022. Since then, he was living at Barnawa Ashram in Baghpat.
