PULWAMA, Aug 8: The students in Lam village of Aripal tehsil at Tral sub district of South Kashmir have been facing hardships in view of the pathetic condition of road leading towards school.

The locals told Kashmir Despatch that the road from main village to its government High School is usually turning muddy, whenever it rains, thereby giving a tough time to commuters especially students.

They said that they have been requesting concerned authorities to look into the issue, but no step is being taken to repair the road.

On Monday morning, a group of students took a video on the spot, following heavy rain in the area, and narrated their ordeal.  One of the students from High School Lam, namely Moomin Ahmad, in the video, has said that they have been facing hardships while going to school, as road turns muddy, whenever it rains.

He said that they had earlier requested the authorities including ADC and BDO to repair the road, but nothing was done.  The students demanded that the road leading towards the High school should be macadamized at the earliest.

They also demanded that fencing should also be ensured around the said school, as the area is wildlife prone, due to which students feel insecure.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Tral, Shabir Ahmad Raina, when asked about the condition of the school road, told Kashmir Despatch that he will take appropriate action.

Meanwhile, the residents of Midoora area in Awantipora have also said that the main road of the village, which leads the area with Tral and Awantipora has turned dilapidated, causing hardships to locals.

They said that the dilapidated condition of the road usually causes traffic congestion, due to which locals suffer, and demanded that concerned authorities should look into the matter.
