Focus on Building Sports Infrastructure

Date:

It is heartening that Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha led administration is giving top priority to the sports besides allocating resources to fulfill the dreams and aspirations of millions of talented youths who want to excel in the sports arena across Jammu and Kashmir.

The latest event in which Lt. Governor inaugurated 28th National Masters Table Tennis Championships 2022 at SK Indoor Sports Complex, Srinagar on Tuesday extended a feeler to the youth in J&K that the present dispensation is very serious in addressing the issues that pertains to the field of sports.

During the event, the LG said that Bakshi Stadium and MA Stadium have been upgraded and renovated for international level matches. He said that the government has succeeded in creating a Multi-Purpose Indoor Sports Hall in every district of Jammu and Kashmir with all facilities as per the requirements of the players.

But need of the hour is to augment the sports infrastructure not only in the cities and towns but at the village level so that not only the talent in the field of sports is harnessed but the youth who have no other source of recreation are involved in life positive activities during their leisure time.

The government can think of establishing gyms, fitness clubs at Panchayat levels so that the energies of the youth are channelized in a positive manner. This initiative will to a large extent address the problem of drug menace which is otherwise eating into the vitals of society.
