Joined recently, will look into the issue: PDD official
Sopore, 14 Oct: The residents of the Janwara area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district alleged the Power Development Department (PDD) of failing to make the newly installed transformer functional in their area.
The residents of Molvi Mohalla Herpora Janwara told Kashmir Despatch that one year has passed since the Power Development Department (PDD) installed a new electricity transformer for our area, but unfortunately, after the installation, it has not been functional yet and the reason is yet to be known.
Fayaz Ahmad, one of the resident of this Mohalla said that almost one and a half years ago, our long pending demand was redressed by the PDD department by installing a new transformer for this area, but has failed to make it functional yet and we are also helpless to know the reason behind. He said, “Was this fun for us residents?”
“We are facing tremendous hardships due to the apathy of the officials in the department. Abdul Samad, another inhabitant, said: “The authorities should take immediate measures to redress this genuine issue.”
We have been approaching the concerned authorities for the past year but the only word we get to hear from them is that it will be done asap, “the residents added.
The Janwara residents alleged that it is the disappointing reality of the society we live in where the power transformers used to distribute electricity to consumers for the purpose of making “life” simpler has become a threat to them.
When contacted, the concerned PDD official Manzoor Ahmad of that area told Kashmir Despatch over the phone that he had joined recently, but assured that the matter would be redressed at the earliest. The officer said that he would look into the issue as he had no information about it.
