Bandipora : Security forces on Saturday detected and defused an improvised explosive device (IED) on Sopore-Bandipora highway thereby averting a major tragedy on the highly trafficked road.
An official told Kashmir Despatch, Police said security forces detected an IED at Badyara village of North Kashmir’s Bandipora this morning.
“Traffic on the road was suspended. Bomb disposal squad was called in. The IED was successfully defused without causing any damage. Traffic has now been restored on the highway,” he said.
Pertinently, the IED was spotted by Army’s 26 Assam Rifles patrolling party.
