Bandipora Feb 21: International Mother Language Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the Army in collaboration with locals across the Gurez valley of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Languages are the most powerful instruments of preserving and developing our heritage. The Aim of observing the Mother language day was to promote the dissemination of mother tongues which will serve not only to encourage linguistic diversity and multilingual education but also to develop fuller awareness of linguistic and cultural traditions throughout the world and to inspire solidarity based on understanding, tolerance and dialogue.
To achieve greater awareness, the day was observed with Shina poetry and Dard’s songs by locals of Dawar at Log Hut . The event was also observed by AGS students on online platforms by recitation of Shina poems & songs on native language.Similar programs were conducted throughout Gurez valley at Kanzalwan, Niru & Baraub.
The initiative of the Indian Army was appreciated by the locals and this event will go a long way in preserving and promoting the culture and unique lifestyle of Gurez.
