SOPORE, Feb 21: The Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sopore, Dr Raies Ahmad Mir, said that the town will be drug-free soon as all efforts will be made to deal strictly with those involved in drug-related cases.

According to Kashmir Despatch, the officer while addressing a gathering of youth in north Kashmir’s Zaingeer belt said that police will make every effort for a drug-free town, however, it is also the responsibility of the general public to play their role in making a drug free society.
“Everyone said there’s a drug market here, and consumers are here,” Dr Raies explained.

He said it takes collective efforts from all sections of society to make the town drug-free.

The officer appealed to people present in the meeting to come forward and identify those youth or individuals involved in this racket and support police efforts to make society drug-free.

Who needs rehabilitation or who needs strict action? “This is all possible when the public will cooperate with the police, and together we can make a better society,” the officer added.

According to Dr. Raies, people struggle socially, and the reason is that ‘we have become victims of anxiety and depression as a result of our involvement in inappropriate activities.’

He stated that people especially the youth must self introspect in order to get out of these situations and should actively participate in sports-related activities.
