Srinagar: A 9-year-old boy from south Kashmir’s Kulgam has caught the attention of former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan, who recently praised him for his skills on the field.

Mumin Liyakat has been practising cricket on cemented turf with a leather ball since a young age, and his dedication to the sport has earned him recognition from Pathan.

In a video accessed by Kashmir Despatch, Pathan can be seen guiding the young cricketer and sharing tips on how to improve his game.

Mumin’s father, Liyakat Ahmad Dar, spoke earlier to the media and expressed his support for his son’s passion for cricket. He said that he believes his son has natural talent and is confident that he will achieve his dream of becoming a cricketer.

The young boy has already identified his favourite player, Virat Kohli, and has been following his style.

Mumin Liyakat’s story is just one example of the increasing interest in sports among Kashmiri youth. With more and more young people getting involved in games, the region is poised to produce a new generation of talented athletes.

As for Mumin Liyakat, his dedication and hard work have already earned him praise from a cricketing legend, and there’s no telling how far he’ll go in the sport.
