Angry that his daughter was in love with a man from a different religion, a 58-year-old man murdered her by slitting her throat. Not only did he kill her, he did the same to his wife and later killed himself.
The incident happened in Puducherry.
Police said the man had locked his house from inside. On Sunday, seeing that the door had been locked from inside for a long time, neighbours broke open the door. When they entered the house, they found that the man’s body was hanging from the ceiling. The bodies of his wife and daughter were lying on the floor,, police said.
According to news agency PTI, the man used to work in a private factory and had three daughters.
Two of his daughters are married. The third daughter was reportedly in love with a man belonging to another religion. This often caused quarrels in the family, police said.
On Saturday, a similar quarrel took place in the family. Angered over it, the man murdered his 50-year-old wife and his 25-year-old daughter by slitting their throats. He then ended his own life.
Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem and have registered a case.
