KUPWARA, March 2: Additional Deputy Commissioner, Farooq Ahmad Baba, today convened a meeting to review arrangements for the conduct of Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) programme in the district.
The meeting was informed that the anti-polio drive will be carried out in the district on 10th of March, in which about 136539 children upto 5 years of age will be administered polio vaccines. It was disclosed that 730 vaccination booths have been established across the 10 medical blocks of the district with a deployment of officials of different departments.
Besides, 10 mobile transit teams along with supervisory staff and collaboration of teachers and Anganwadi Workers will be sought for proper execution and monitoring of the immunization process.
It was also informed in the meeting that vaccination stock has been already dumped in far-flung areas of the district like Tangdar, Keran, Machil and Jumgund etc.
On the occasion, ADC stressed the officials to put in their best for the success of the drive so that no child is left out from the immunization process.
He laid focus on covering identified high risk areas especially labor class populace.It is a collective responsibility of all stakeholders towards achieving 100% target to keep polio at bay in the district, he added.
ADC also stressed upon education department to put all the schools open at 8:00 AM in the morning where vaccination process is to be held, so that the people will no face any hardship.
The meeting was attended by by ADC Handwara, CMO, DIO, District Mass Education Officer, BMOs, CDPOs and other concerned.
