After Ananthnag, FIR under Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita against Illegal Mining In Baramulla

Baramulla, July 1 : In a landmark move after South Kashmir’s Ananthnag, Police in north Kashmir’s Baramulla have registered the first FIR under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Kreeri, marking a significant milestone in the Kashmir Zone.

An official told Kashmir Despatch that FIR No. 93/2024, filed under Sections 303(2) and 329(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023, demonstrates the police’s commitment to combating illegal mining and upholding the law.

He said this historic registration highlights the district police’s dedication to modernizing legal processes, ensuring timely justice, and strengthening the rule of law. It sets a precedent for the effective implementation of the new criminal law framework in the region.

The new criminal law framework signifies significant advancements in India’s criminal justice system, aligning with global standards and prioritizing justice, accountability, and protection for all citizens.
